The boys

October 18, 2009
We were watching the movie Cars. David saw a car and said, “ I’ve been looking for that car for years.” While we are watching things on TV David often says that he wishes he had this or that. I have to tell him that we will keep our eyes out for one at the DI or he can ask Santa for one. He has said he wants so many things that he will never remember all the things he wants. Lately he is really into unusual dinosaurs . I have to tell him that I don’t think they make things like “ Micro Raptors”.
On Saturday, Jon was tilling the garden, and David was playing. I suddenly heard him say, “ Oh my God.” I was so surprised. Then he said it again. I had to explain to him that we don’t say that because it is not respectful to Heavenly Father. He listened very nicely and didn’t say it again that night, but today when he was playing in the other room I heard him say it again. I again corrected him and then told him several other things that were better to say. He also really likes to say, “ That was so FREAKEN COOL!” I’m not sure where he is picking these things up.
David’s new favorite show is Dino train. He has learned all kinds of things about dinosaurs. He told Jon the other day. “Do you know what Micro means? REALLY small.” Then he told Jon all about the Micro Raptor and how it has four wings, one on each leg. He has asked me more than once, “ When can I get a Micro Raptor.”
We watched the movie, Monsters vs Aliens. David thought it was a hoot and laughed a lot. Later on we were in the car and David said, “I don’t have a brain, but I have an IDEA.” Then he laughed. He said the blue, blob, Bob had said it.
David was saying his prayers and he said, “ Help me to get my plane really soon!”
David really pays attention in the car and knows where we are and how to get where we are going. One night Jon was having David give him directions to our house. We were at our turn and were waiting to see if David would say turn here. He said, “ Keep going straight! I want to go on the tree road. Then he proceeded to give us step by step instructions around a few blocks. He took us down his favorite road and then told us how to get to our house. We are often blown away by his intelligence.
David will be singing a solo in church on November 8th. He has learned all of the words to his song. He also has a small speaking part. All I have to do is say, “I came” and he finishes, with all of his part. He has such a good memory and can memorize anything that interests him.
David is a stinker. He can’t stand to see Ryan having fun with a toy. No matter what it is, even if it is an empty toilet paper roll, or scrap of paper, David will yank it away. I don’t know if he loves to hear Ryan Crying or if he just can’t stand to share. On the good side he is fantastic at keeping choking hazards away from Ryan. It’s hard to choke on something if your big brother won’t let you have anything.
RYAN
Ryan is FINALLY starting to show an interest in walking. He has stood on his own for fifteen seconds a couple of times. He will let go and balance now, but still likes to drop down to his knees as soon as he realizes l have let go. I cheer a lot and so he thinks it is fun. I am making him walk with me from room to room. He just holds one finger. He has good balance, he just doesn’t want to let go. I think he wants to do it perfectly before he will even try. I wonder if that will always be his personality.
For awhile I was really scared that there was something wrong with Ryan’s right foot. I could never get his shoe on. The left shoe slid right on, so what was wrong with his other foot. I looked the size of his feet and they appeared to be the same. But every time I went to put his Right shoe on he would twist his foot, and I just couldn’t get it on. When I had Ryan at the Dr’s about the swine flu I had the doctor look at his foot. He said it was perfect and normal, and that Ryan was just messing with me.
Ryan loves the song, “ Mama Mia” He dances to it and if he is crying and I start to sing it he will stop.
Whenever Ryan wakes up, he has a bottle of milk and then immediately after he poops. He is so regular you could win a bet with his bowel movements.
Ryan loves Dog Food. I get mad at him for eating it and take it away, but as soon as my back is turned he is eating it again. I don’t know why he likes it so much, but he does. One day I had to dig four pieces out of his mouth. The smell of it made me so sick to my stomach that I actually threw up.
Ryan has a temper. When he gets mad he hits his head on the floor, or wall, or against me. One day we were in the bath room and he wanted to get in the tub. When he realized he didn’t get to get in the tub he was so mad that he tried to bite the tub, repeatedly. Then he realized that wasn’t working so he walked over to the wall and hit his head over and over again.
